As passing days drown in a flurry of flames,
giving way to desolate nights, bereft of stars,
rivers flow endlessly, carving their marks upon my cheeks.
A taste of scalding fire, smothering my lips,
Burning with the flame of passionate hunger,
scorches my lips to poisonous black, yet the pain leaves sweetness lingering.
Running wandering fingers through oceans of silken hair,
my blackened lips find your nose, your eyes, your burning lips,
my eyes close to a rainbow of colours, dancing sensually before my closed lids.
Lust and love gyrates in a dance of fusion,
A melody of heart rendering sighs mixed with whimpers of fear,
As the rivers carve their marks down to my very bone.
Finally the rivers dry, the music fades and the dance slows to a stop,
The flames start to engulf the receding darkness once more,
and I wait,
I wait,
until the day
we can dance together
again.
